What I really like is the option to regulate volume separately from the system volume. This option is missing in Quick Time, for example, when a Skype call can greatly scare you while watching a movie.

Pleasant enough. Started using it as default player both for work and home use.
Last update of VLC upsets with its glitches. So started testing new video players. Elmedia performed rather well with my videos.
Handling of subtitles is great especially when watching soft-subbed anime. Simply change size, colour, font.
Tried free and paid players in the App Store to open mkv video, but only with Elmedia Player succeeded. Decided to try this player on other formats like FLV, AVI, MOV - Elmedia handled without problems. Works great on Yosemity. Best free player for me!
Elmedia player is one of the best media playerds out there
So far, so good. I purchased the Pro version for this ameture. I use this to view and share my cam mirror videos. I like the freeze frame snap shot capability as well.
This application worked fine for a bit but suddenly only shows a blank screen with sound. Uninstalling and reinstalling has done nothing. Same with restarts. Really liked it but now only functions as a music player. iMac Retina 10.10.3.
Only app that I’ve found that can handle everything that I throw at it. Other software needs additional software to play the audio? Not ElM! Phenomenal. Thank you so much for the app. Cheers.
It plays everything that I thow at it.
It’s always good to see some new media player arriving on OS X platform. However this app lacks some key features: Hardware accleration, audio pass thru. Movist is a far better alternative to this.
This is one of the only apps Ive found that can play an FLV file at 2X speed. Major timesaver in my work. Thanks!
I am soooo thanfkul for this app!!! I was so bummed that VLC didn’t work anymore and it didn’t make any sense because my mac is new; anyway, this is terrific and I’m sure that with more exposure, I’ll want the full version. Guys…. GENIUS and THANK YOU!!!!
I use it on a limited amount of playing videoi. So far its works nicely.
The download seems to have gotten stuck. It never got past “loading”.
If you’re downloading videos over the internet, you’ll come across lots of extensions most of which you don’t know. This is the only player I tried (Divx Player, MPEG stream, quick time) and is working with these weird extensions. big thank you. I wish it continues to be free.
No issues when the application starts fine. But after a few start-ups, the next time I start it it just hangs/jumps in the docker indefinitely, rendering itself virtually unusable.
This app seamlessly plays Windows Media files, which is impressive for a free application. I would feel good recommending it, but I would like to note that the quality of the footage when played on this app is slightly worse than the original file.
I was looking for a player that I could use to quickly create a playlist to watch some training videos I have on my hard disk, but at slightly faster speed (so I can watch slightly quicker). So far the free version does this well! I wish they also had an iOS version because I also need the same in iOS!
I had a lot of WMV files and couldn’t open them with quicktime. I had to convert every file but with this app I can play them all. Great App...
